Brian's Birthday

Last Tuesday was Brian's birthday and we had our families over to celebrate. I decided to make it a "Brian themed" party....so of course there was BBQ, camouflage, and hunting dogs.

I made these cupcakes for him mainly because I wanted to use the camo cupcake papers I found on etsy.

I always see little party tags like these above on etsy, but I'm too cheap to have someone else make them so I figured out how to do it myself. I sure Brian was thrilled to have little chevron tags....not.

I thought these napkins had his name all over them.
It's so fun to have everyone sit together.

I'm obsessed with these paper placemats I found at a store in Gainesville for only $7!!!

It's a tradition with my mom for the birthday kid to wear the birthday hat.....Brian couldn't wait to get it on.

Brian's favorite Banana Pudding.

Brian got this cool turkey hunting vest....it has a built in seat, I had to try it out.
It came with this mask too weird
He also got a "grown up" briefcase. It has plaid lining....very Brian.
Brian is such a special person to everyone and we are all very thankful for him. It was a wonderful night celebrating a wonderful person!

We went to St. Simons about a month ago and I snapped this image of Brian IRONING while enjoying a drink. WHAT A DREAMBOAT!

Moving Stuff Around

Back with some changes. We finally figured out how we wanted to arrange the dinning room. We decided to take a leaf out of the table and move the "dinning room" down towards the foyer so we could have a seating area at the other end. Here is a reminder of the room before...

and here it is after we painted

and what it looks like now...

This plate arrangement is special to us. The white dishes were Brian's grandmothers, Brian gave me the oyster plates for Christmas, and the platter was given to me by my mom. LOVE!!! We recruited Brian's parents to come help us out with hanging these.

My father-in-law actually came up the arrangement!!! hehehehe

I got my monogram chevron pillow on etsy and I'm obsessed with it!

You probably didn't noticed our cream chairs are in the dinning room now. So we were fortunate enough to have these donated to us

Hand me downs are great!

The greatest day of my life happened about a week ago......this is why....

I came home from work and this was in my drive way! What a dream. We hosted a Jaycees funtion at the house and the Varsity catered. (the jaycees is a local organization Brian is involved with)
The Varstiy just might be my favorite thing ever.

DREAMY.

and then we had all these leftovers! I thought about them all day the next day only to come home and find out Brian had thrown them all away that night! Geezzzz.

I'm Still Alive

Wow, I haven't done this in FOREVER! Been really busy and took a little break from blogging. We've done a lot at the house though so stay tuned for those updates.
What's been going on with us? Basically i've been depressed since Hooch left. Our house is so quiet and lonely without him. We also haven't made a trip to see him because I just don't think I can handle it!!!! Who knew I would be like this about a dog.....
But this weekend we have a visitor staying with us and she is definitely filling that void.

Meet Lilly!! She is staying with us while my brother and sister-in-law are out of town. She is funny, much different than Hooch, mainly because she is so tiny! She is obsessed with Brian, and has nothing to do with me. Typical.
I still haven't shown you our guest rooms, but now i'm ready. The one today is referred to as the "aqua room" or "my room." Weird I know, but we made each guest room specific to our personalities. So this one is mine. Here it is before:

Dark and kinda scary. Here it is during the renovation

Getting a little better, but then it ended up looking like this, and that is when I hit a wall and was stuck. I couldn't figure out what I wanted it to look like.

It was just too much aqua. But now I've finally got it looking better and I'm feeling better about it.

I got these pillows on Etsy. They were the perfect pieces to tie together the brown and the aqua. They were cheap too! And I got the white bedding at the Pottery Barn outlet.

My mother-in-law and I painted this old desk about three years ago for my other house and I've always loved it. I just had so much aqua stuff though and that is why I was so torn about this room and trying to make it all work.
This piece is another one of my favs. It was painted by my friend Elizabeth Embry of D-stressed Designs (go look at her facebook page, awesome stuff)
LOVE THIS. It's a watercolor of my wedding dress that my friend Alison Hudgins Odom painted. She has an Etsy shop if you want one too! (go to etsy and type in Alison Odom Designs, I can't figure out how to put links to things on my ipad)

And I finally got this to cover the window. Found them pretty cheap at Home Depot.

Don't worry, I've still got Brian working over here!
Be back later with more updates....HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!
