So Fresh and So Clean, Clean

The inside of the house is painted!!!!! I had intended on posting these photos a few days ago......but we had a little set back.  My painters said everything would be done on Monday, so we Brian and I went over there to check it all out.....they told us they had bad news and that almost everything had to be redone!!!!!!! AHHHH  This meant delaying the hardwood floors (that were suppose to start Tuesday) which meant delaying me moving in!!!!!!!!

Why did they have to repaint everything you ask? Well, there were some old stains that the painter didn't see before and when the paint sat over the weekend, the stains began to bleed through. (by stain I mean old sheet rock or smoke stains) So we agreed to let them fix it and prime they walls that needed it again.  more and more $$$$$ !!!!

But they finished everything up today and here is the result............
You can't really see much because of the lighting.  We don't have a lot overhead lighting , we are "lamp light" people and we couldn't afford to have lights installed in every room

those are the hardwoods ready to be installed!

it's a grayish/ tan

we chose a cream color for the trim, not white, and I love how it turned out!

The laundry room did kinda turn into a "khaki box" Brian you were right  but the windows are gonna be spiced up with some cafe curtains made out of this

The dinning room walls are really more of a gray/blue. They look really blue here

Grass cloth wallpaper will go above the paneling here in the foyer

I'm super satisfied with everything and it LOOKS SO NEW AND CLEAN!!!! YEA!!!

There is Greta working again!!!!!!  She CANNOT stand for anything to be messy and she LOVES to use her blower.  This is giving her such joy.  She kept nagging me about cleaning up our driveway, but then she took care of it herself (thanks mom).  She wakes up every morning the blows off her outdoor room and area around the pool......IN HER NIGHTGOWN!!! It's a pretty intense habit.  she is probably really mad at me for talking about this

HELPFUL TIP FOR ALL YOU SMART PHONE USERS:
I downloading this great app today.  http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dropbox/id327630330?mt=8
It's called drop box and it just saved me sooo much time!
All you do is download it to your computer, and then download the app to your phone and then you can automatically send pics and videos to a file on your computer. And it's FREE!  So now when I take pictures on my phone, I can send them instantly to my computer.  Pretty nifty.

I'm going to feel really dumb if everyone already knew about this app!

Preacher Man

Today was a proud day for a younger sister.  My older brother, Whit, preached his first sermon at his first church as a pastor.  IT WAS GLORIOUS!  My younger brother, Jake, went with me and Brian to Braselton this morning and it couldn't of been a more perfect day!

I love his church!!! If I was an artist I would totally paint this for him, but i'm not.  He preached an amazing sermon on welcoming Christ into your heart.  It was great and I couldn't be more proud of him.  I am a very lucky girl to have him as a brother and a mentor.  He has always been such a special person and I am so honored to be apart of his family!

Inside, isn't this great!
I love these light fixtures

Whit has a great devotional blog and if you are interested in keeping up with it, click HERE
LOVE YOU WHIT!!! SO PROUD OF YOU!

Over at the Hughs household.......

Brian removed the old oven cabinet to make room for the new one

and he tore out the upper cabinets here to make room for our pantry!!!! I can't wait to see it all installed!

The whole house has been painted in the inside too.....those images are to come soon!

These signs are hanging in my parent's garage and they are basically my mother in a nutshell! I think they are so funny!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Have I mentioned I'm ready to move in?

I've been living with my parents for a month and a half now and I'm SOOO ready to get in my own house!!!! Not that it's been a negative experience...but I'm just ready to be in my home, with my stuff, and organized the way I want it to be. Here is a typical daily conversation between me and Brian:
Callie: "I'm so ready to be in my house."
Brian: "Oh really Callie, I had no Idea, I've never heard that before."
Callie: "No like I'm being serious, I really thought we'd be in there by now."
Brian: "I know, I'm doing the best I can, but you obviously don't understand how this works."
Bless his heart, I'm so annoying and I really appreciate him putting up with me.  THANKS BRIAN!!!

I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel though.....it's a dull light, but it's there!

Brian took apart the island the other night which meant POWER TOOL TIME!

HELLO

Even Greta decided to help!! Thanks mom!
And here is the kitchen with out the island....so weird

I thought i would share some fabric and paint with ya now.....

These are the paint colors

You can't tell very much from these pictures, but they are very warm colors and I'm excited about them! There will be no white in the house.  Brian's only response was "are we going to live in a khaki box?"  bahahaha he kills me, obviously all those tans are different colors!

We picked out our carpet too! We went to Budget Carpet Outlet here in Gainesville and got a great deal on some in stock carpet.

This will be going in all three bedrooms.

We also picked out these great brick pavers that will go in the sunroom and laundry room.  I LOVE THEM! They remind me of Savannah.  I thought it would be perfect in the laundry room since that is where we will enter the house.  We won't have to worry about staining carpet or buckling hardwood floors.  Just wipe the dirt away!

This fabric will be the pillows on our couch in the den.  The room will be a creamish color and remember the kitchen is part of this room too.  The cabinets will be gray, so I thought this was the perfect combo of both colors.

This will be in the sunroom and maybe den.

the perfect combination of masculine and feminine
deer and aqua

This will possibly be somewhere in our master bedroom
this ikat is also in the master

And this will be in one of the guestrooms.

Does anyone see a trend with these fabrics????? DEER, PHEASANTS, BIRD DOGS, AND DUCKS!!!
You might think I'm crazy......but Brian loves all these animals, and when you put them on fabric....then he loves the fabric too ;)

I can't wait to show you the rest whenever I get in the house !!!!!!

Lately

I've been a little M.I.A. Brian and I just got back from a great weekend in Chattanooga, TN for a dear friends wedding.  It was so fun seeing all my college friend's and catching up.  It was really nice taking a break from the house too!!!!

The paneling is down in the dining room!!!! We were so excited to find that there was sheetrock behind it! And now we are able to patch the paneling in the den with the paneling that came out of the dining room.  Aren't we so resourceful :) Our fantastic painter took care of all this for us and took down the horrible track lighting!  We are slowly moving into the 21st century.

I just spent an hour trying to find images of dining rooms that I like.....but I think I don't know what style I like yet....so I couldn't find one. But I did find this great laundry room!

wouldn't this be nice

There used to be a built in cabinet here in the den.  We randomly decided to tear it out and I'm glad we did because we found old water damage behind it!!! The paneling was nasty, but the painter was able to take the dining room paneling and fix it right up! You can't even tell it was there except for that large spot on the ceiling. I was a little reluctant about removing that cabinet because I was excited about the display shelves, but I think we will be able to arrange our furniture better now.  I was going to put a picture of Brian ripping it out, but he isn't wearing a shirt in the picture and he said I couldn't post it.  Thanks Brian.

THE CHARCOAL GRILL IS GONE!!!!!!!

This is what we plan on doing with it...

Ours will not look anything like this, but you get the idea...

The fireplace has been primed...

and the vent hood is gone!!! It is sooooooo much more open now! I've been shopping around for something to hang over the island (remember the island is going away and we are getting a new one soon).  I found this one at a local lighting store and I really like it

I'm not sure yet though.....I might want to go for single pendants.  I saw these while I was in Chattanooga at a restaurant and I like this look too.

I dunno what to do!!!  We also had the old light fixtures removed in the kitchen and laundry room and had some new, fresh can lights put it!!! So much better!

This post is long....I better stop now. Enjoy!

Blank Canvas

The house is seriously becoming a blank canvas.  We have no floors, no window treatments, and all the intercom systems have been removed and patched up!

intercom
There was one of these in EVERY room and some were twice the size of this one!  They were such an eyesore, and the color is horrible!  Thankfully they came down easily and were patched up and soon you will never know they were there.

master bedroom
Our bedroom is so much brighter now that we have the curtains down and carpet out.  You can see the patch where the intercom used to be.

Our bedroom is really big, but the windows and doorways were placed in not the best places so we were a little lost on where to place the bed.  I don't have a picture of the wall opposite of what's above, but it is a blank wall with the doorway to the bath on the far left side.  It is technically where the bed should go, but when you walk into the room you would hit the bed and there is not enough room for two bed side tables.  I HAVE TO HAVE TWO BED SIDE TABLES!!! So we have decided the best place is in front of the window in the picture above. I was a little hesitant at first because I've always heard to never cover a window, but after reading http://www.elementsofstyleblog.com/ post today, I was definitely okay with it.

I LOVE this bedroom.  It's very calm and I love the whites and creams.  Our linens remind me of this, but we plan on doing a big pop of color with the headboard in our new room.  I'm excited about this project and hope we can get started on it soon!
