Time

I cannot seem to find enough time in my day to blog!!! My life has been really crazy and I feel like I'm on an out of control roller coaster!!!!!!!!! I've been working a lot and had tons of other things on my plate oh and remodeling this house! I don't have much to say today, but I did make some changes in the breakfast room this past weekend.

Just rearranged and added a few things.

Hung these above the decanters

and moved this chair from the den to here.  I hate that I take my pictures at night!!!!  This chair will be great for reading books  talking on the phone.

I also got my china that has been at my mom's for almost a year and had it arranged in the china cabinet.

We had the back of this built in china cabinet painted the same color as the wall. My painter and I fought over this decision.  He wanted it the color as the cabinet and I told him no, and he still painted it the cabinet color!!! I had him go back and fix it, and I'm glad I did because I think it makes my china really stand out!

My family welcomed a new baby cousin into our family yesterday and I AM OBSESSED WITH HIM!!!!!

ISN'T HE THE CUTEST NUGGET YOU HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! His name is Charlie, aka Cha-Cha, and he is fantastic!!!! I am so proud of my cousin Katie!!! Mommy and baby are doing GREAT!  yay!!!!

Breakfast Room

Another room Brian and I re-did was the breakfast room I've never had breakfast in there.  It was more of a sunroom/porch area before but we decided to put our kitchen table in it instead.

Before it looked like this....

sliding glass doors between the den and sunroom

We decided to take the sliding glass doors down, read about that HERE, and took up the carpet.  Under the carpet ending up being concrete, which is not ideal for laying hardwood on top of so that is where we got the idea for the brick pavers.

This is a dark, not so great picture but here is what it was like during.

and here it is now!!!!

This piece came from an auction in Highlands, NC.  It is the perfect place to display some of our fabulous wedding gifts that we didn't get to do at the other house.

Brian surprised me on Christmas morning with this fantastic farm table that I had seen at an antique store.  We really wanted a farm table and when I saw this I knew it was perfect!!!! It was set up in his parents den when we got to their house that morning.  I was  so excited and very impressed  but later told him that he really screwed up by setting such a standard for Christmas gifts...he told me not to expect something like that again...it was a one time kind of thing.

This was a good spot for our decanters, but I really want a bar cart here someday.

I have quite a collection of festive napkins a trait I inherited from my mom  and they were a disaster and needed to be organized.

The piece of furniture in the breakfast room has big, deep drawers and the perfect spot for all this junk.

I can also hide all my salt and pepper shakers in it too!!!

Brian and I were able to enjoy a nice boat cruise to the restaurant,Skogies, on the lake tonight.  MUCH NEEDED!!!

Back with more pictures later!!

PANTRY!

The pantry was towards the top of my wishlist.  We didn't have one in our other house, so we used a cabinet and I hated it, a big pantry was a must here!  While we were reconfiguring some of the spaces in the kitchen, we figured out the perfect spot for it, right where the old desk was.

The refrigerator was moved to that empty wall and we got this!!!

The bottom half has pullouts and the top half holds our microwave and all our small appliances.  I love that I can hide my microwave and can easily grab my panni maker and cook up a grilled cheese!

Our electrician install an outlet in the back of the pantry so the microwave can stay right there for use

Brian is sitting next to me telling me that no one cares about the food in my pantry.......but I do.

These drawers are deeper for things like canned goods.  and yes.......that is a value pack of ramen noodles....

The rest of our hardware was installed this week too!! So happy!

When we first moved in, Brian had the task of sorting through the old doorknobs and cabinet hardware.  This is how I found him on the front porch.......

..........SLEEPING .....real productive Brian.  We still don't have doorknobs on our doors.

but he did point out that we are probably the only people with a built in dust pan!!!!

We also still haven't gotten to this space yet........

Foyer

Our Foyer is one of the only rooms that is mostly finished.  Do you remember what it looked like before??
Here are some pictures to show the transition...

Brian's mom is a super talented decorator (lucky us) and she loves to arrange shelves and wall hangings.  So of course we had her come over to help us figure out where things needed to go!

don't worry, Brian is still measuring everything.  This one is level!

I ordered a set of brown and white plates for our other house, but here we are splitting them up and using them separately throughout the house.  I got them from THIS great shop on Etsy.  If you love english transferware.....this is your place.  Go check it out.

And here is what it looks like now!!!!

The mirror was a wedding gift from Brian's so very sweet grandmother, GanGan.  We thought this would be the perfect spot for it and it looks great!!! (thanks GanGan)

Someday I will probably add a rug and we obviously need a light fixture.  I haven't decided what look I'm  going for with a light fixture, so I'm going to wait and not impulse buy because I have done that WAY too many times!!

Been a little busy...

I can't seem to find the time to walk around the house and take pictures of things.  I am going to do it tomorrow!!!! We've been attempting to get organized and trying to feel like we live in some sort of normalcy!!
We've hung a lot of pictures and plates and stuff.  You must know that Brian is a freak about hanging things on the wall .  He measures EVERYTHING and uses and level that has a laser on it....just to make sure.  As annoying as it is, everything always looks great and symmetrical (Brian gets this quality from his dad.....always gotta have symmetry).  Here are just a few so far....

I love this painting.  It was painted by a local artist and friend, Rhonda Brown.  She does really neat stuff.

LASER!!

missing some crown molding up there....oops!
I bought these at an antique stores and I totally thought they were antique.....they aren't.....I've seen them in few stores.  Bummer, I still love them though!!

I was so excited to hang Brian and I's wedding invitation.  I just had it framed at the Purple House Gallery
here in gville.  I love working with Malia and Rachel, they are always able to come up with something awesome from my strange descriptions of what I would like I have a hard time getting my thoughts into words.  This time I told them I wanted rustic/chic (which is kinda an oxymoron) and I think they nailed it with the burlap and linen.  My invitation was one of my favorite parts of planning our wedding.  My cousin, David Roper, is an artist in Atlanta and he designed our leaf and acorn motif that we used throughout the wedding.

I hope to have more to show you later!!! Goodnight!
